Halloween is not our tradition. I personally am not a fan either. But kids these days are crazy about it, and even schools are holding parties and making kids wear masks.
A few years ago we unknowingly started a tradition with our friends Sandra and Rui. I promised my kids a Halloween-themed dinner, and Sandra promised the same to little Rui. We decided to join forces. After spending a weekend in Salamanca without the kids, our first weekend alone without the kids since they were born, we decided to join forces and have our first Halloween dinner together. The year was 2021. But even after that, the kids never forget and always get together every year on October 31st for a Halloween-themed dinner. This year was no exception!
We try to make “scary” food or something more mundane but “masked”. Such is the case with Philippine mousse, which turns into a dessert no one could have imagined just because they saw two fragrant vases on the table!
Of course, you can serve it in a glass and eat it the traditional way, but I think it’s fun to eat it this way. On Halloween or any other date.
ingredient:
2 packs of 35% fat whipped cream, very cold
4 tablespoons of sugar
1 pack Philippine (chocolate coated rings) or similar (I used white chocolate, but you can use any variety)
preparation:
Beat cream and sugar in a clean, dry bowl until a stiff, creamy mixture forms.
Meanwhile, grate the Filipino and gently fold it into the previous preparations. Place in a large or small bowl and refrigerate until serving.
To make a mask version, place the mousse in a pre-washed and clean vase. Then cover the top with crushed chocolate wafers. I used Oreos to imitate dirt. Then add rosemary, basil or mint sprigs to make it look like a flower pot. Store in the refrigerator until serving and wow your guests!
take pleasure in!
